Frequenty Asked Questions

How does the CogAT Next Step Planning Tool use AI technology?
This tool uses AI to group students and suggest activities. These recommendations are designed to support teachers and should always be reviewed before assigning or using them in class.
Who should use the CogAT Next-Step Planning Tool?
Classroom teachers, interventionists, and specialists who want to turn CogAT data into lesson-ready plans.
What type of data is required?
The tool requires CogAT standard age scores (Verbal, Quantitative, and Nonverbal).
My district only uses the CogAT Screening form. Can we still use the tool?
The CogAT Screening Form provides a single composite score, which isn’t sufficient for the tool. To unlock full functionality, students should be administered either the Post-Screener option or the CogAT Complete, which provide the separate Verbal, Quantitative, and Nonverbal scores required by the tool.
How is student data protected?
All student names are anonymized during AI processing, and no personal data is stored. The tool follows Riverside’s Terms of Use and district privacy standards. It also follows all FERPA and COPPA federal protection guidelines.
