About the session:
Dyscalculia is a complex and often misunderstood learning disability that affects a student’s ability to understand and work with numbers. In this webinar, Dr. Tammy Stephens will provide an overview of dyscalculia, its defining characteristics, and how it impacts learning. Participants will explore best practices for identifying dyscalculia through informal data collection, the use of multiple data sources, and targeted evaluation models such as the Core-Selective Evaluation Process (C-SEP). The session will also highlight how the Woodcock-Johnson® V (WJ V™) can be integrated into comprehensive assessments to inform eligibility and instructional planning.

Instructor Credentials:
Tammy L. Stephens, Ph.D. - Dr. Tammy L. Stephens is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Teaching and Learning at Southern Methodist University, within the Educational Diagnostician certification program. She has over 20+ years of experience working in the field of special education as a teacher, educational diagnostician, university professor, and consultant. Dr. Stephens authored the Core-Selective Evaluation Process (C-SEP), a PSW model widely used for identifying SLD. She provides training at the district, state, and national level on topics pertaining to best practices when conducting assessments.
