Enhancing Assessment Practices: Testing English Learners with WJ-V and WMLS-III

    About the session:

Join us for an engaging webinar aimed at empowering evaluators to effectively assess English Learner (EL) students using the WJ-V and WMLS-III. This session will provide valuable guidance on selecting language-reduced tasks to ensure assessments are fair and representative of students’ abilities rather than their language proficiency. We will explore best practices specifically tailored for monolingual psychologists conducting assessments with EL students.

    Learning Objectives:

    • Identify appropriate WJ V and WMLS III tasks that minimize the impact of language proficiency on assessment results.
    • Apply best practices for conducting equitable assessments of English Learner (EL) students, particularly when working as a monolingual examiner.
    • Interpret test findings in ways that accurately reflect students’ cognitive and academic abilities rather than linguistic limitations.
